As I sit at my kitchen table which has become my office, I find myself beginning to adjust to this new reality. My roommate and I have come up with a schedule to help bring some normalcy and routine to each day. We schedule meetings, work time, meals, outdoor/exercise and most importantly FUN which of course there is a planned time for everyday.
And while that has all helped in the adjustment process, the one thing that I am not adjusted to is how exhausting each day is. Everything takes more effort, energy and focus than it did before. But amidst all of this, I continue to come across little somethings that brings me joy. Makes me smile. Gives me hope and reminds me that I am not alone.
Last week as I was walking into the front door of my apartment complex, when something caught my eye. There was a sign in the second floor window. It said, “We can do this. Hang in there everyone.” It was so simple. But it meant so much.
That is when I decided I wanted to do something to bring joy to the community I live in. I wanted to spread the joy that my neighbor brought me to other people. So my roommate and I did this.
That sign on the second floor reminded me that I can reach out to not only those who I know and love, but also to my neighbors who I don’t know at all. For some this has looked like yard signs or sidewalk chalk. For me it was window decorating. So I challenge you to think about what can you do to bring joy to your neighbors that you do not know?

God, Be with all of us as we continue to adjust to this new reality. Help us to find joy around us and share it with our neighbors. Amen
